With the rapid development of computer-aided design systems, more and more manufacturing companies use three-dimensional CAD for product design. Product design patterns have evolved to the following procedure:Manufacturing companies use CAD software to build a three-dimensional geometric model, and then generate two-dimensional drawings by projecting and blanking. Finally three-dimensional model and two-dimensional drawings are delivered to the downstream chain aspects. This kind of design pattern makes full use of the geometry performance ability of 3D CAD system. Since there is no effective three-dimensional representation of product characteristics and manufacturing process information (product characteristics and manufacturing process information collectively referred to as a three-dimensional mark), three-dimensional model is only an auxiliary of two-dimensional drawings during the product processing.As a domestic high-level three-dimensional CAD/CAM system with independent intellectual property rights, SINOVATION is fast and efficient in hybrid modeling and parametric design and has rich feature-based modeling features. However it still has some defects in creating three-dimensional annotations on the basis of three-dimensional model. Through reference of 3D annotation functions of the advanced CAD software and technical standards for digital product definition, enterprise’s experience and requirements, this paper designed and implemented three-dimensional annotation function on the basis of SINOVATION6.0.This paper focuses on the implementation and application of SINOVATION-based 3D annotation; the concrete contents are as follows:1, the basic concepts, development, advantages and the main work of the 3D annotation technology have been expatiated on in this paper. The problems existing in the current 3D annotation technology applications have been summed up.2, three-dimensional annotation functions of four kinds of mainstream CAD systems have been investigated. Through analysis of the content,annotating method, and edit ability of mainstream CAD software, The advantages and disadvantages of the 3D annotating module for the mainstream CAD systems have been pointed out; According to the results of investigation and client’s needs, the 3D-annotation’s requirements have been summed up.3, the key technologies including of the plane definition, matrix transformation, projection, view angle, three-dimensional data structure definitions of three-dimensional annotation and string misreading in three-dimensional CAD system have been studied. The main codes of the algorithm of key technology have been implemented and this has reference and enlightening for other researchers.4, detailed designs of 3D annotation have been implemented based on SINOVATION system.Basing on the analysis of function’s needs and in-depth study of key technology of three-dimensional annotation, the 3D annotation functions on SINOVATION system have been designed and implemented. Finally, on the basis of adequate understanding of client’s needs, the 3D annotation functions have been tested and the practice proved that 3D annotation functions have a clear technological advantage and can greatly improve work efficiency.5, finally conclusions are made in the paper. This paper also discussed the future research direction of this topic and made a simple introduction of application of three-dimensional annotation. Further improvement of the system is also proposed in this paper.
