| With the rapid development of satellite positioning system, corresponding GPS user equipment has become the most dynamic and potential part of the GPS applications. In recent years, more and more engineers entered into the field of GPS engineering applications. Microstrip array antenna is designed simply and easier to conformal. It can be combined with vehicle, aircraft carrier surface seamlessly together and will not cause certain resistance and power dissipation. In this paper I designed a cylindrical conformal microstrip antenna array and a GPS receiver based on the antenna to achieve a real-time location information displaying.Firstly, the paper discussed research status of satellite navigation systems and conformal array antennas. It simply presented the related theory and a cylindrical conformal array antenna was designed. We used the etching to process antenna engineering prototype. The antenna was tested in a microwave anechoic chamber. The results showed that it not only utilized the space effectively, but also did not affect the aerodynamic performance and power consumption of the carrier.Then, we discussed the working principle and design process of the GPS receiver in detail. The paper gives its hardware design and soft program which based on ST Company’s STM32, the antenna, GPS processing chip and OELD display screen. I have made the engineering prototype. The results showed that the receiver could finish the expected work with cylindrical conformal and get satellite signal quickly which can process real-time show and position information.The paper’s research is the key subject of satellite navigation system and user equipment technology. The practical GPS receiver which can apply on aircraft cylindrical conformal surface is not just pure application design, but also dedicates a meager force for our country’s positioning system.
