A field research on the third-party logistics companies such as Fujian Putian Shengfeng Logistics Co., Ltd. found that currently the third party logistics companies had some issues in the visual management, which were almost the transport routes of the vehicles, yard positioning and cargo handling process all failed to realize visual management. Besides, the loading stowage areas still lack of effective optimizing. Based on these phenomena, this paper proposed to develop a third-party logistics visualization management system based on the Internet of Things technologies, for improving the operational efficiency of third-party logistics, achieving the purpose of energy conservation and reducing the pollution from logistics activities.The design on developing the third-party logistics visualization management system mainly from the following three parts:1) Vehicle Management Visualization:The trailers and tractors were all installed standalone GPS locator, which realized the trajectory visualization about transit vehicles. In addition taking advantage of the RFID monitoring technology to achieve the meter-level positioning when the vehicles entered the yard, which was in the yard management visualization module. As a result the system was able to accurately determine the stopping location of the trailer and the tractor and percepte the vehicle’s busy condition, so as to facilitate the managers to independently schedule the tractors and the trailers.2) Yard Management Visualization:Using RFID monitoring technology to achieve the yard handling position visualization and percepte busy states of all the equipments within the yard, by which managers could take full advantage of the logistics equipments that were available for dispatching. At the same time, the system monitored the behavior of the truck handling process, if it found an handling behavior that couldn’t match the handling plans, the yard would have used the TTS voice technology to remind the forklift driver to correct wrongdoing, for improving the correct rate of handling operations.3) Load Management Visualization:By the RFID monitoring technology which in the yard management visualization module, the system sensed the loading sequence of the tray number and formed a loading list. And then the real-time loading states of the trailers would be visually showed on the system interface and the LED display, which helped the managers to optimize loading plans, as much as possible to minimize the no-load rate of long-distance transportation. Finally, the system would transform the loading list into a two dimensional barcode which adhered to the back of the transport orders. Other provinces’management system could inform the loading list by scanning the two dimensional barcode, then drawn loading figure. Application of the two dimensional barcode in the design instead of the traditional technology EDI, in order to achieve a more reliable inter-provincial communication.Finally, testing the system in the field production, this subject designed the third-party logistics visuaizationl management system had.been verified in the field operations, had achieved three major visual design objectives. Meanwhile, making full use of passing vehicles to carry cargo which improved the full loading rate and reduced the number of miles, also played a energy saving effect, which reduced the third-party logistics companys’ unit transportation costs of route transport and regional transport.
