MIMO radar is a new system of radar concept raised based on MIMO technology. Compared to phased array radar, the MIMO radar waveform diversity allows significant improvement in DOA estimation and target resolution, while DOA is an important MIMO radar parameter. This article is mainly focusing on DOA estimation of MIMO radar, which has both theoretical significance and application value.This article firstly describes the principles of MIMO radar, including the virtual array element, radar degrees of freedom, the maximum number of targets can be resolved and the general used array model. Meanwhile single base MIMO radar signal model is built. Also the article analyzes parallel factor technology, joint diagonalization technology and their corresponding algorithm respectively. Later applied to a single base MIMO radar model and research on MIMO radar DOA estimation based on PARAFAC technology and JADE technology, a detailed analysis of one-dimensional and two-dimensional DOA estimation is carried out. Finally through the MATLAB simulation to analyze the feasibility and performance of the algorithm, and compared with classical ESPRIT algorithm. The conclusion is the two algorithms can both effectively estimate target’s one-dimensional DOA and two-dimensional DOA, and the performances are both superior to the classical ESPRIT algorithm.
