As a way of life to achieve physical and mental delight, take exercise, and get close to nature, outdoor activities are favored by modern urban people and attract broad participation. Meanwhile, as electronic products have become an essential part of our life, it cannot be imaged to live without them. However, people can only carry them while walking, running, biking, skateboarding, swimming, and even mountaineering. When these electronic products are in outdoor environment where people take part in outdoor activities, it can be found obviously that there exists non-applicability, which is mainly manifested in following two aspects:on the one hand, when outdoor environment is relatively harsh, they are too fragile to adapt to it. On the other hand, they are unable to meet various special needs of outdoor activities, thus failing to serve them well.In this paper, the platform for outdoor activities falls into natural environment platform and artificial environment platform. The former refers to natural environment factors such as temperature, humidity, dust, snow and frost, shock, vibration, radiation, and so on. The latter refers to the characteristics of outdoor activities. In this paper, Bluetooth speakers are taken as an example to analyze electronic products’ applicability to outdoor environment from the two aspects in order to study how to make them more applicable to environmental conditions of outdoor areas, thus providing better service to people. It is pointed out in the paper that electronic products’ applicability to natural environment can be improved through protection design by making them waterproof, dustproof, anti-shock (anti-fall), scratch-resistant, against high/low temperature, and that their applicability to artificial environment can be improved through changes in power source, portable design, pattern, color, texture, performance and function, and etc.The paper consists of five chapters. The first chapter is an introduction of research background, research methods, and research significance, and so on. The second chapter includes an analysis of and a summary of electronic products often seen in outdoor activities and an explanation of the concept of applicability and types of environmental tests. The third chapter aims at modeling Bluetooth speaker user requirements after positioning user groups for research content by analyzing user requirements for outdoor Bluetooth speakers and users’ behavior characteristics based on outdoor sports participants, and positioning scenes for research content by analyzing the characteristics of outdoor environment and the types of outdoor activities, and conducting market research and analysis on the current situation of outdoor Bluetooth speakers to analyze people’s entertainment needs in outdoor sports. The fourth chapter centers on providing solutions to the applicability of Bluetooth speakers to outdoor environment, respectively from aspects of energy, portable design, protection design, pattern, color, texture, performance and function, and so on. The fifth chapter aims at verifying research conclusion through design practice on the basis of the previous chapters.
