All the books in the library are classified by library classification number. Readers need to retrieve the number on the computer when borrowing books. Then they go to the specified collection room by using the library layout and query the classification number range of bookshelves. Finally the book can be found on a bookshelf. This book lending service lacks intuitive and takes more time when readers borrow books. Especially for large libraries and the readers who are not familiar with library layout, the issue is more outstanding. This paper has designed a library retrieval navigation system based on Zig Bee. The library shelves are used as the localization target in system, and the position of readers can be located in real time through the indoor Zig Bee wireless sensor network. Finally the position and navigation path of shelves and readers are displayed on the handheld terminal. Compared with the traditional book lending service, the system is more convenient and intuitive. And readers can reduce the time-consuming when borrowing books. The main work of this paper can be summarized as follows:(1) An improved localization algorithm based on Zig Bee technology has been proposed in this paper. The paper has decided to build a library indoor wireless sensor network based on Zig Bee after analysising and comparing the advantages and disadvantages of wireless localization technology. In the wireless sensor network, Zig Bee wireless sensors are placed on book shelves and used as reference nodes, the handheld terminal connecting to the sensor with a localization engine is used as the blind node. The paper researched on localization algorithms and proposed an improved algorithm based on the weighted centroid algorithm. The improved algorithm is proved can be more convenient and real-time by the way of comparing the centroid algorithm, PDR-WCL weighted centroid algorithm and improved algorithm in Matlab. The experimental result has proven that the localization accuracy of improved algorithm is the highest, localization error is within 1 meters.(2) Both the software and hardware system of wireless sensor nodes has been designed. In Zig Bee wireless sensor network, the sensor nodes include reference nodes, coordinator and blind nodes. CC2430 chip is used as processor of the reference node and coordinator. CC2431 chip which has a localization engine is used as processor of blind node. This paper has designed the module circuits and the PCB board of each node. Such as power supply circuit, serial interface circuit, the antenna circuit. The communication among nodes has been realized by wireless and serial port.(3) Communication between host computer and coordination has been archieved by serial port. Forms of the host computer have been designed in the VB environment. And the serial communication between PC and coordinator has been designed. So the data setting on PC can be sent to each node. The coordinator is connected with the ARM7 development board in the testing experiment. If the received data from the serial port aide is consistent with the actual coordinates of blind nodes, it can verify that the host computer and the serial communication work well.(4) Both the software and hardware system of the embedded handheld terminal device have been designed. STM32F103RCT6 chip has been chosen as a handheld terminal processor and 2.8 inch TFT touch screen has been chosen for input and display. In the system the handheld terminal is used as a blind node, so the serial connection between handhold terminal and Zig Bee sensor node with a localization engine should be built. The virtual keyboard has been designed. Readers can input the target shelf number on the touch screen. The serial communication between the handhold terminal and blind node has been realized in the system. Finally, the path can be determined according to coordinates of the target shelf and reader in real time.In this paper, the system has been built based on Zig Bee and embedded technology. It not only solve the indoor localization of library but also provide a model for the construction of future library.
