With the social development and production need, position orientation and navigation are becoming more and more important. The present positioning system mainly includes American Global Positioning System, Russian GLONASS and our country’s self-developed Beidou System. And among them, GPS has the most wide applied range and the most users. It is not able to efficiently receive satellite signals in indoor environment. In view of this defect, the positioning system centering on indoor environment came into being and immediately became the hottest research issue in the academic world. The indoor positioning system using the RFID( Radio Frequency Identification) method is studied, and then improvement project is put forward on the basis of traditional positioning algorithm in this paper.Improvement of the indoor RFID positioning algorithm is the study focus of this paper. Before studying, current development of radio-frequency technique and the significance of studying positioning are introduced first. Based on the introduction, positioning method and principles of indoor positioning are simply introduced and system components of the indoor RFID positioning and the hardware structure of RFID are stated. Three typical algorithm systems LANDMARC, VIRE and BVIRE of indoor RFID positioning are systematically and deeply summarized, stimulated, evaluated and compared with each other. Centering on the current algorithm system’s error issue, improvement project is put forward, which on one hand is the improvement of reference label layout of indoor RFID positioning, presenting the reference labels as rectangle or triangle shape, on the other hand is the improvement of the virtual label algorithm of the VIRE system, replacing the insider interpolation algorithm with Lagrange interpolation method and the arithmetic of Newton inserting value to work out the coordinate and signal strength of the virtual labels. By comparing and stimulating these two improved projects on Matlab software platform, the conclusion that they both decrease the error value to a certain degree is gotten.Realization of this study issue decreases the error value of positioning, raises the efficiency and offers some references to study of indoor positioning system.
