The Design And Implementation Of Chart Animation And Backward Compatibility Module Of VizChart System

In this information age, people are dealing with data everyday. In order to extract information from large-scale and all kinds of data efficiently, we need a way to present data fastly, vividly and intuitively. Compare with traditional spreadsheets and report forms presented by text or number, visualized business data presented by intuitive chart is more popular among users as it could always increase work efficiency. Data visualization has been widely used and developed both in scientific research and business field.Currently, in the development field of data visualization system based on Web, JavaScript gradually occupies leading position due to its advantages:simple, cross-platform, has many open-source libraries, etc. The project this paper discussed is part of Data visualization system VizChart developed by BI Department, SAP China Labs. VizChart System is based on JavaScript and uses JavaScript modular technology, jQuery and jQuery UI, SVG-based diagramming technology. It could meet users’requirements on chart in four aspects:intuitive, relevant, artistic and interactive. The paper’s main work is as follows:1) Introduce project background, the development status and related technology of data visualization based on Web.2) Analyze the requirements of VizChart System and introduce overall architecture and module division of VizChart System. In design aspect, the paper describes the design of Chart Animation Module and Backward Compatibility Module in detail.3) Describe the implementation of Chart Animation Module and Backward Compatibility Module. Chart Animation Module is based on animate function provided by jQuery. It achieves animated transition effect when converting chart, through the capture, mapping and intermediate state calculation of SVG element. Backward Compatibility Module updates chart information with old version to latest version by sequence through constructing version chain, in order to ensure compatibility with different versions.Now VizChart System has been integrated into SAP Lumira, SAP Fiori and other software. It helps enterprise to analyze business data and judge market prospect. It also helps indivisuals to create a simple and beautiful chart and easily interact with chart.
