Space-based radar (satelite-borne radar) plays a very important role in the future space warfare.The research is carried out around the military applications of space-based radar target detecting, identification and tracking. Through theoretical analysis, computation and simulation, the waveform parameters and digital signal processing algorithms for target detection are designed.In this paper, the mainly research work includes:1、A novel method of forward-zeros-padded digital pulse compression is presented for wide pluse-width long distance space-based LFM pluse compression radar to solve the problem of near range eclipse. Then a novel approach of range-eclipsed target detection and range measurement by using residual energy of return signal is given. Theoretical analysis and computer simulation results show the performance.2、As the actual distribution of the measurement data of typical satellite RCS is largely deviated from the standard probability distribution, a novel radar detection system design method based on measurement data of RCS(radar cross section) and its percentile distribution model is presented. The total-energy parameter is designed according to the given operating range and detection performance requirements of long-distance space-based radar.3、In order to reduce the average energy consumption in target tracking , a novel optimal distance-interval separation method is presented for waveform design of tracking pattern in wide pluse-width long distance space-based LFM pluse compression radar. Detailed design is carried out for the waveform parameters, such as pluse width, period, power, number of pluse accumulation, modulation bandwidth, sampling interval, etc.4、The range and speed measuring precision is analysed with the given waveform parameters.The angle measuring precision and the glint in space-based radar target tracking is also analysed.
