With the development of wireless technology, the Internet of Things is coming intothe various aspects of human life. Wireless sensor network technology enables objectslinked into internet. To meet the need of reducing health care costs, bodyphysiological parameters’ detection and disease prevention, as a medical sensornetwork, body area network has emerged. Body area network has great applicationvalue in medical field. Moreover, it is a promising technology applied in the consumerelectronics, sports training, safety production, identity authentication, aerospace andmilitary protection. Because of its broad applications, more and more researchers inacademia and industry are attracted to study on body area network. Body areanetworks is still in its early stages of development, face a series of technicalchallenges.Because of human’s social attribute, multiple body area networks often appear in asocial place in practice, and communication range of body area network overlaps witheach other, which leads to severe inter-network interference among body area network.Inter-network interference will reduce reliability and energy efficiency of body areanetworks. Therefore, research on body area internetwork interference problems anddesigning interference mitigation algorithm especially for body area networkcommunication has important theoretical value and significance.Interference mitigation techniques for traditional network has own a relativelycomplete study, but these algorithms can not be directly applied in body areanetwork, because that body area networks work in a distributed manner and lack ofcoordination and information exchange mechanism. According to characteristics ofbody area network, game theory is used as mathematical theory basis in this paper fordecision-making in body area networks, and design inter-nerwotk interferencemitigation algorithm for body area networks. In this paper, inter-network interference problem of body area network is firstly analyzed, then an inter-network interference model is established. According to theinterference model, we formulate a power optimization problem, and apply gametheory method to construct a power control game among body area network. On thebasis of proving the existence of nash equilibria in the game, a distributed powercontrol algorithm is proposed to achieve optimal power distribution point. The powercontrol algorithm can improve total transmission rate of coexisting body areanetworks, therefore improve communication quality for body area network.Due to the deficiencies of large overhead and energy consumption in the distributedpower control algorithm, we formulate a power optimization problem withmaximizing the total network utility with minimum transmission energy cost as a goal.According to game theory, a tradeoff between network transmission rate and powerconsumption is used as payoff function to construct power control game, and provethe existence of Nash equilibrium in this new game. Then a light improved powercontrol algorithm is proposed for inter-network interference mitigation between bodyarea network. Compared with the distributed power control algorithm, this improvedalgorithm can reduce overhead resulting from information exchange among network.,and nearly reach the former algorithm in performance of mitigating inter-networkinterference while reducing power consumption. Therefore, the improved powercontrol algorithm is an effective algorithm considering both interference mitigationand power consumption for body area network. In addition, the improved algorithmgives an interface (i. e., penalty factor) to control compromise between transmissionrate and power consumption, which can be set up according to different applicationrequirements and quality of service requirements. This article starts from body area network’s need of reliability, and make a researchon inter-network interference in body area networks. We provide a inter-networkinterference mitigation scheme for coexisting body area works to maximize totaltransmission rate with minimum energy cost.
