With the continuous emergence of new-type services, the traditional separated control method of IP network and optical network would take expensive construction cost and operation cost. Due to the explosive growth of data traffic, the cost grows higher by the day. While the unified control of heterogeneous network is the key to solve these problems.In this paper, in view of the requirement by integration of IP network and optical network, we proposed a software defined integration network module and a Bypass implementation mechanism for resource optimization. We also designed a software defined inter-layer failure coordinated recovery mechanism and finished the related simulation work. The main innovative research achievements are listed as follows:Firstly, in order to solve the problems of expensive cost and waste of resources caused by the separation control of IP network and optical network, we proposed an integration network control module. With the communication between each controller, we can achieve the centralized control of heterogeneous network and the best way to unified control IP network and optical network with the resource optimization.Secondly, based on the integration module above, we proposed a Bypass implementation mechanism for resources optimization. Optical controller can load Bypass algorithm module dynamically, with the communication between IP controller and optical controller, taking advantage from IP network’s flexibility, as well as optical network’s high capacity and low-latency for the resource optimization.Thirdly, for the inter-layer failure in multi-layer networks, a software defined inter-layer cooperation recovery method was designed, and two multi-service recovery strategies (the bundle cross-layer link restoration strategy and the separate cross-layer link restoration strategy) were proposed. Compared with the traditional method, the proposed strategies can improve the successful recovery rate and network resource utilization effectively. Test results show that the strategies can get a30%reduction of network blocking probability, and a10%improvement of resource utilization.
