This article improved the rate equation model of five level excimer broadband pumped alkali laser (XPAL) in which Cs-Ar mixed gas act as gain medium, based on existing model. Output curve of laser energy varying with the energy of input pump is obtained by simulation under different temperature and different concentration of relaxation gases. The slope efficiency of model agreed with the experimental data well. The results show that, when the other condition is constant, the higher the temperature, XPAL threshold and slope efficiency will be higher; if the concentration of relaxation gas is large enough, output of the XPAL will be only D2line of852nm; XPAL has the highest efficiency when temperature near515k. The article also studies characteristics of the alkali metal vapor laser which contains two-photon absorption mechanism, and rate equation model for Rb vapor laser four-level was established. From the simulation results, it is concluded that the efficiency of alkali metal vapor laser which contains the two-photon absorption mechanism is higher, but the pumping threshold of this laser is higher too, both of efficiency and threshold will rises along with the work temperature rises.
