Tm3+-doped fiber lasers can obtain the laser wavelength at approximately2μm, and laser2μm operates at eye-safe region. So it is very attractive for some applications, such as surgery and medicine, and infrared-guided missile countermeasure. Another important application is to the pump source of OPO to generate lasers at3~5μm, which can further obtain the laser wavelength of8~12μm. Therefore it has greater value to research Tm3+-doped fiber lasers than traditional lasers.In this paper, we study the Tm3+-doped fiber laser from three parts:(1) Research on the characteristic of the energy level structure of Tm3+, and analysis the pumping process at the pump wavelength (set at793nm). Set up the rate equations and power propagation equations of Tm3+-doped fiber laser.(2) Simulate the characteristics of the Tm3+-doped fiber laser by Matlab and analysis the results.(3) Set up the system of Tm3+-doped fiber laser, and test the performance. Finally we obtained the continuous laser output at approximately2μm. |
