With the rapid development of communication technology and wireless network, people’s demand for location has greatly increased, especially, the need to exactly determine the location of the moving target, facility and article in the complicated indoor environment and the city with many shelters. However, due to the limitation of the development of wireless location technology, location accuracy, power consumption and the complicate indoor environment, more complete location technology has not been realized well at present. ZigBee technology is a new low-cost, low-power and low-rate short-range wireless communication technology based on the IEEE802.15.4standard. ZigBee location technology is a wireless location technology for low-cost devices. With the characteristics of low power consumption, low cost and high reliability, it has brought a huge change in the field of wireless location. With the rapid development of ZigBee technology, the real-time positioning problem based on ZigBee network system increasingly attracts great attention.By intensively studying the common short-range wireless location technology, analyzing the characteristics of ZigBee location technology and comparing with other wireless location technology, this thesis reveals that ZigBee location technology used in indoor location system is feasible and points out the shortage of real-time. On this basis, it offers the location system design combined the ZigBee Technology and CAN technology.This thesis analyzes the structure of physical layer, MAC layer, network layer, application layer, transmission and network structure. And it combines with the newest ZigBee positioning technology research to design overall scheme of the RSSI-based location technology system. The system uses the ZigBee wireless network with CAN bus data transfer system as a combination to build location communications platform and collects moving target positioning data to send upper computer. This thesis describes the system hardware and software design, including wireless transceiver chip CC2430-based reference node module, CC2431positioning node module, hardware circuit design and software design of CAN bus transmission and positioning system software design based on ZigBee protocol stack. Finally, this thesis goes on the actuAl test on the positioning system. The positioning data analysis shows that the system is a low-cost, good real-time system which reaches the design requirements. At the same time, according to the deficiencies in the experiment, it offers the method for further improving the function and puts forward ideas for the future development and prospects.
