The ocean is rich in mineral resources. With the decreasing land resources, development of deep sea mineral resources is of far-reaching significance, which can meet increasing demand for metal resources. How to achieve the saving, the convenient and accurate processing and utilization of marine minerals is the key of deep sea exploration. Based on the above background, on the request of the Deep Sea Mineral Resources Development Laboratory of Certain Research Institute, the article proposes a control system of multi-functional top-bottom induction furnace, and then researches on the gas blowing control method.This paper first expounds the theoretical basis, development course, and the top-bottom blowing technology of the multi-functional induction furnace. Because of the characteristics of the induction furnace, it is very convenient and flexible. This device is a multifunctional one which can be used not only for calibrated test but also for conducting processing test. Then based on the knowledge of induction furnace refining process, this paper describes the induction furnace smelting operation process and the equipment composition of the system according to the actual practice.Then this paper introduces the design method of the computer control system based on S7-200PLC, including Control system configuration, Control principle diagram design, lower computer programming ideas and upper computer interface function. The system realizing the automatic control of the induction furnace equipment, blowing device and intermediate frequency power equipment. The system adopts a two-level control system with PC upper computer at the management level and PLC at the process-control level, thus realizing the centralization of information and operation management, decentralization of control and high automation of production.At last, According to the disadvantages of the gas blowing control system existing in the actual operation, further research and study is proceeded. As an important part in induction furnace smelting experiment, blowing system’s control performance has a great influence on the effect of experiment. But the present gas blowing technology has defects such as the vague argon blowing-in process, no regulation on blowing pressure, inaccurate adjustment and limited adjustment range. When flow adjusting amplitude has a big span, the traditional PID control method-use fixed PID control parameters, can’t adjust a good response result. Therefore, this article presents the BP neural network control algorithm based on the traditional PID control. The control algorithm unites the neural network and the law of PID control as an organic whole with the advantages of traditional PID controllers, which are simple in structure and clear in the meaning of parameters, and with the neural network’s capability of self-study and adaptation. Through the simulation research of this algorithm, we get a satisfied control effect, laying a solid foundation.for the actual production.
