Working environment is one of the most frequent situations for people. The environment quality has a significant influence on people’s health and work efficiency. When staying in uncomfortable working environment for long time, people will suffer from intensified sick building syndrome symptoms and aggravated fatigue susceptible. Thermal comfort degree is a significant indicator for working environment quality. Thus, monitoring environmental parameters which have an effect on thermal comfort is the foundation of improving working environment quality. It is not only useful for staffs’ health but also increasing working efficiency.In this paper, further study on the thermal comfort theory of environment quality. Based on the heat exchanging between people and environment, make a profound analyze of PMV(Predicted Mean Vote) and PPD(Predicted Percentage of Dissatisfied) thermal comfort evaluation model. Then defined the parameters and measuring method which affecting working environment quality. The affecting parameters include environmental variables and artificial factors. The former includes Temperature, Relative humidity, Velocity and Mean radiant temperature. The latter are Clothing thermal resistance and metabolic rate.Accomplish the design of the portable detection system for working environment. The major parts of system include measuring modules of multiple parameters and portable intelligent instrument. Measuring modules collect and process environmental parameters, such as Temperature, Relative humidity, Velocity, Mean radiant temperature and Carbon dioxide. Portable intelligent instrument, based on MSP430lower-power MCU, communicates with measuring modules by Modbus. It can export environmental parameters to PC through USB port. Realize a large volume of data removable storage by FAT32file system of Micro-SD.Developed the monitoring platform for working environment on the upper machine, if needed, collects thermal comfort parameters from the portable intelligent instrument through USB port. Realize centralization control of multi-parameters. The intelligent system is convenient to carry as well as able to work stably and accurately, which has a guiding significance for improving working environment quality.
