In order to fulfill the increasing demand for new data service, faster transmission rate, smaller transmission delay and larger throughput are needed in communication system. China Mobile and China Unicom use GSM as second generation communication system. And LTE which is the transition technologies between3G and4G is now the direction for research on broadband wireless communication system. The implementation on broadband wireless communication system based on SDR platform can do research and analysis on the fundamental communication protocol, which could show the result of communication link through the simulation procedures.Currently, SDR is treated as common simulation tool for performance analysis and research. The common hardware platform of SDR are USRP, WARP, SORA and OAI broadband wireless communication system platform.This thesis is focus on the research demand for the performance of communication protocol. Build the platform for GSM communication system OpenBTS and LTE MAC layer simulation system OAI based on SDR. OpenBTS system completely substitute the traditon network switching architecture of GSM system to implement the3-layer protocol of GSM system air interface, which could show the call between two cellphones. And OAI system is based on LTE MAC protocol according to the real communication environment, on which researchers can conduct simulation experiments about RA, Scheduling, Multiplexing and so on. The presented testbed provides wonderful performance for the research on algorithm in protocol process.Eventually, as SDR has become the best solutions among the direction of the development potential, this thesis shows the prospect of the future work.
