As the rapid popularization of the video application, the development of interactive high definition TV and the rapid increase of the subscribers’number, the requirement of the optical access network bandwidth increases singnicicantly, and it shows the trend that the network traffic will reach1zettabyte in2015. Not only do the optical access network improve its capacity by WDM, but also it need to improve the bandwidth in the single wavelength. The rates of the signle wavelength from lOGbps to40Gbps will absolutely be the direction of the optical access network, especially for the downstream transmission. Meanwhile, to reduce the cost of the operational and maintenance cost, the optical access network will have longer transmission distance and cover more areas. This paper aims to design and implement the OLT device of40Gbps TDM-PON demo system and the main research content of the paper is stated below:Firstly, the overall scheme design of40Gbps TDM-PON experimental system is completed, including analysis of40Gbps TDM-PON experimental system demand, optical modulation and demodulation scheme of the experimental system, data framing and multiplexing mechanisms of the experimental system and clock synchronization solution of the experimental system.Secondly, the circuit board design and the board debugging and OLT side are completed, including40G framing chip, MAC layer data exchanging chips, MPCP&OAM function chip and PM-DQSPK optical modulator module design. Debugging results verify the experimental system program OLT functions basicly. Thirdly, for the PM-DPQSK modulation coherent receiver technology in the40Gbps TDM-PON system, we have designed an experimental test method which satisfies the requirements of PON systems and have tested its performance. Experimental results show that:for the40Gbps TDM-PON experiment system whose downlink transmission distance is120km, the downlink power budget can reach53.5dB.
