Research Of Openflow Testing And Monitoring Technology

Software Defined Networking (SDN) is a new kind of networks, and OpenFlow, as a standard application protocol of SDN, causes great concern in the industry. Domestic and foreign manufacturers develop OpenFlow switching equipments one after another to experiment and try out new ideas on networks. In order to guarantee the quality of OpenFlow devices and the effective operation of OpenFlow network, research of OpenFlow testing and monitoring technology is in urgent need.The main work of this paper can be divided into two parts:function test and network traffic monitor. First of all, according to the test requirement of the company, OpenFlow Spec, Protocol Implementation Conformance Statement and development schedule, this paper chose appropriate test framework, and researched and modified the OFTest, and then built test environment. After that, this paper designed test schedule of OpenFlow switch and test cases by using the method of equivalence partitioning etc. and extended test scripts to test the OpenFlow switch of the Centec. By testing the switch, the quality of the products is guaranteed in some degree. V330switch passed the test of well-known manufacturers later, and get high marks from customers.Testing of the first part laid a foundation for the second part: OpenFlow network traffic monitor by using OpenFlow protocol. According to the characteristics of network traffic, by different network traffic data collection, a method of OpenFlow network traffic real-time monitor with little influence to the controller and OpenFlow channel is designed and realized, including monitor of elephant flows and switch ports. At last, according to the real-time network traffic, this paper studies strategies of network traffic control, and analyses the feasibility.
