As a frontier branch of virtual reality, augmented reality pays more attention on the real world than virtual reality. By using three-dimensional graphics and computer vision techniques, virtual objects are displayed in users’ perspective, superimposed on real scene. In the ideal case, the augmented virtual objects should be seamless integrated with the real scene, and in the user view, the contents do not have to be distinguished between augmented and real scene. In augmented reality, virtual content can be designed as interactive and responding to users clicking, so that these virtual objects are not only visible but also more vivid. Apply this technology to the traditional media will bring rich media and interactive tags to the process of reading, and effectively improve the user experience. This paper studies and implements a rich media application for magazine based on augmented reality with mobile devices, the application will display scene captured by the mobile device in real time, and the scene are mixed with multimedia virtual tags superimposed on it. Multimedia labels are in diverse types including plain text, hyperlink, image, audio and video, these labels are rendered and displayed on the screen in real time, in addition, users can interact with them, and different actions will be triggered by clicking. Current mainstream mobile devices mostly running on one of these systems, Android, iOS and Windows Phone. In this paper, we will discuss how to implement the application on the Android platform based on augmented reality. This paper mainly covers the following aspects:1) Implementation of Augmented Reality technology on mobile devices:By recognizing and positioning technology, combining the determination of the type, location, size and orientation of the displaying tags, to complete the real-time multimedia tags display.2) User interactive multimedia label:different types of tags received user interaction will trigger different responses.3) System Architecture and Implementation:The system is built based on C/S (Client/Server) architecture, and process communicating and downloading over the wireless network. Through efforts of a few months, we have completed the above work and eventually build a complete system to achieve the above functions, and achieve good results in the use of augmented reality technology on the mobile terminal.
