In today’s rapid development of mobile Internet, the number of smart phones continues to increase, smart phones have become one of the main entrance to access the Internet. Smart phones like a moving personal centers, through which people can socialize, entertainment even work whenever they want, mobile internet is profoundly affecting and changing our lives.In the information age, everything pursue efficiency, users demand real-time communication increasingly, more mature real-time communication solutions are mainly based on polling techniques and HTTP streaming. Although they have realized the effect of real-time communication, but they are not suitable for today’s increasingly complex web applications with low efficiency. Meanwhile, many real-time applications are local APP. One of local APP’s disadvantages is to do adaptation for different mobile operating systems, and implementation technology is difficult, the development and maintenance costs are relatively high. HTML5appears to brought a technological revolution for the mobile Internet. Smart phone’s browser has a better support for HTML5, it is not just the first entry for browsing web pages, it will also become the first entry for any application, so the Web APP in the smart phones will likely become the future of the industry.This paper analyzed the technical principles and shortage of traditional solutions of real-time communication, then made a profound study about WebSocket protocol, summarizes the advantages of it with respect to traditional solutions. Finally we designed and implemented the chat room application for the smart phones based on HTML5WebSocket, through the test cases, we verify the function of each part can be normal use, we completed the search for development of Web APP about real-time communication based on WebSocket.
