HEVC is the next generation of H.264video standard. In2009,Joint Collaborative Team on Video Coding(JCT-VT) of the ITU-T Video Coding Experts Group (VCEG) and the ISO/IEC Moving Picture Experts Group (MPEG) standardization organizations study the next generation of video standard, High Efficiency Video Coding, HEVC, as an alternative to the H.264video standards. HEVC’s goal is having double encoding performance than H.264. Though it also use the hybrid coding structure, the complexity of the standard in various of aspects improving, so that the efficiency cannot meet the requirement of real-time. If we want to use HEVC instead of H.264, we need to further optimize the HEVC to realize the engineering requirement. As the reason we will do something optimize to low the complexity and enhance the efficiency.In this paper, we first analysis the new feature of the HEVC, found the complexity increasing in different feature. We focus two part of the HEVC, the CU splitting and the mode decision fast algorithm of intra-prediction. I will study the inner mechanism of the CU splitting and the fast mode decision algorithm..As a result, the CU splitting is more complex than the Macro block in H.264, and the number of the mode in intra-prediction is increased from&in H.264to35in HEVC, So we need to find an algorithm to reduce the computation. In the paper, we analyze the spatial redundancy to reduce the complexity in CU splitting and the fast mode decision algorithm. The neighbor block is relative to the current block, and we can use this relation to decide more fast.Through analysis and experiment in this paper, a fast algorithm of the CU splitting and the fast mode decision of intra predictions proposed, and combining the two, so that the coding efficiency of HEVC is improved significantly and achieve the desired results.
