The construction and development of broadband network infrastructure is promoted by the rapid growth of the network rate and requirements for bandwidth. So the backbone fiber optic network challenges greatly on system capacity and transmission performance. With the combination of coherent detection and orthogonal frequency division multiplexing, CO-OFDM system has advantages of high spectral efficiency and strong anti-dispersion performance. It has a broad application prospect in the future optical fiber communication systems with characteristics of high capacity, long distance and high rate, which has been paid an increasing attention by many international scholars.Because of the effects of sensitivity to the phase offset in CO-OFDM system, the XPM effect and phase noise become important factors to further enhance on system performances. The paper focuses on compensation mechanism for XPM effect and phase noise in CO-OFDM Systems based on RFP algorithm. A CO-OFDM system by simulation is built to verify the proposed optimization schemes. System performances on different parameter settings are compared. The main completed work and innovations are as follows:(1) The process of parameters optimized to compensation for XPM effect based on RFP algorithm is shown. The influence of the parameters on CO-OFDM system performance including form of Pilot, Pilot power and transmission link dispersion distribution is analyzed in detail.(2) An scheme to improve the compensation performance for XPM effect based on RFP algorithm is proposed by optimizing the relative position of the pilot in the signal spectrum. It is shown by simulation results that the pilot at the best position in30GB/s CO-OFDM system can realize increasing of Q1-2dB.(3) The scheme of compensation performance for phase noise based on RFP algorithm in CO-OFDM system is analyzed and compared. The simulation of compensation based on RFP in16QAM modulated CO-OFDM system is implemented.
