The joint deployment of various wireless access networks is not only the current status of wireless networks, but also the trend of future wireless communications. As one of the global3G standards, HSDPA system has been widely deployed. The long term evolution of HSDPA, which is known as LTE, uses a lot of new physical layer technologies, and its system architecture has also undergone a major change. This results in the difficulty of LTE to achieve backward compatibility. Therefore, two networks will be co-deployed in the same area, and the user can also choose to simultaneously access both networks and use joint transmission, so as to achieve higher rates and get a better experience. As the network needs to carry a variety of different types of services, the requirements of QoS are different, so different services require different joint transmission modes. Based on the above issues, this article focuses on the analysis of joint deployment of heterogeneous cellular network, conducts a research on the joint transmission modes of the TCP service and video streaming service respectively, and gives the corresponding simulation results. The joint deployment of heterogeneous cellular networks is firstly analyzed, where LTE and HSDPA systems is taken for example. Four aspects are discussed in this part, namely including services and QoS, scenarios and architectures, the selection of transmission mode and data splitting methods, and the research uses tight aggregation deployments, MRTD transmission and dynamic ratio splitting as the implementations of joint deployment. Based on the above analysis, this article focuses on the joint transmission of the TCP service and video streaming service. The TCP protocol is not suitable for wireless network environment because of its characteristics, especially in the joint deployment of networks. The multiplex mode of joint transmission for the TCP service will lead to a sharp deterioration on the TCP performance. Therefore, a joint transmission model and the corresponding mixed transmission mode are proposed to reduce this adverse effect. Video streaming service is a kind of real-time business, which has certain requirements on video frame delay and delay jitter. A joint scheduling scheme to ensure such QoS requirements is proposed in this article. Simulation results show that the joint transmission modes of the two services perform better in the joint deployment of LTE and HSDPA networks. Finally, a summary is given, with a simple outlook of the joint deployment of heterogeneous network.
