As one of the main technical solutions of optical fiber access,1OG EPON has been increasingly favored by the Telecoms Operators and it will be applied a lot in the next few years. But10G EPON system is only a simple load system on second-layer, with the features of transparent to the data transmission and not care about protocols and services, led to10G EPON system inefficient to load the new services such as P2P, Web video, instant messaging, VoIP, streaming media, and network gaming, resulted in a serious waste of bandwidth. To use network resources effectively and implement different load-strategies for different services, all kinds of services must be identified. In addition, to ensure the QoS of users’services, Telecoms Operators also need to identify all kinds of services in the network and implement detailed management of services, thus providing protection for different users with different quality of service levels.For the target of services identification in10G EPON ONU, the main works of this paper are listed as follows:1. In this paper, a scheme supporting services identification in10G EPON ONU has been proposed. According to the above scheme, FPGA VHDL coding and simulation of the DPI core modules, such as five-tuples identification, port identification, feature extraction and buffer of uplink packets, data FIFO, has been completed.2. The design and implementation of a platform for generating excitation sources and checking simulation results have been completed. The contents of excitation sources are10G Ethenet frames which satisfy the XGMII interface format. Types, orders, quantities, intervals, lengths and contents of frames can be flexibly configured. The results can also be checked and statistically analysed by the platform.3. The design of experimental scheme has been completed and a testing environment of10G EPON ONU with services identification has been set up. IP Ethernet tester MD1230B has been used for debugging. After that the test system has been accessed to the Internet for test, the results prove that the two main indicators, accuracy rate and recall rate, are more than90%and more than80%, reached the target of above scheme.
