Design And Implementation Of Delay Measurement Method Undercertain Network Traffic

As a newly developing field, Internet has been rapid developed in several aspects, the number of user, the network size, and the applications. Daily life has been changed by E-commerce, SNS, cloud computing, IOT and micro-blog. Now the Internet environment is getting more complicated, however the customers is looking for higher quality services. The research which is focus on the operational process inside the Internet is very important. As one of the important means to determine the health of the Internet, network measurement has been a hotspot. Time delay measurement is counted as an important branch of this field. Based on the Internet state measured by the time delay, the internet service quality can be improved by taking congestion control, link selection and QOS optimization.This thesis studies measurements methods for the end to end network, and propose a new delay measurement means for specific network traffics. Firstly, we introduce the key technologies to achieve network measurement and background, describe the measurement indicators and measurement methods of network performance, and explain the developing process of graphical interface terminal test platform in Linux system; Secondly, we analyze the operation principle of the underlying protocol stack in Linux system, and investigate how the token bucket algorithm works to control Internet flows; Thirdly, we build the time delay measurement platform, and obtain time delay under specific network traffics by simulating sending out pockets, where has nothing to do with the carrier and network model. Finally, we analyze test datas and presented deficiencies of the time delay measurement method and recommendations for follow-up development work.
