ABSTRACT:With the increasing size of the network operators, the rapid growth in the number of users and the increasing types of business, how to provide a stable operation network environment is becoming a difficult problem for every operator. When packets transfer through communication network, there are many factors that can affect the transmission quality, and ultimately affect the service quality level provided by operators. In order to obtain the information of network operation status timely, we need effective means to detect changes of network status as soon as possible so that we can make adjustments in a timely manner. Network measurement is proposed for this demand, and it understands the network health and performance advantages and disadvantages by testing the network status and performance indicators. Network measurement is not only an important mean for deep understanding the network characteristics, but also an important basis for implementing traffic engineering, network management and optimum design.This paper analyzes the index and significance of network performance measurement, studies the theory of network measurement technology, and puts forward an effective method for network measurement. Meanwhile, this paper analyzes various indicators of measurement methods and the relationship between indicators. In addition, combining Socket communication and requirements of network performance measurement, this paper presents a platform for network performance measurement design, and implements an Internet performance analysis system. Through this system we can achieve a flexible selection of measurement parameters, and realize a variety of performance parameters of the test means. At the same time, the system provides a platform for statistical analysis, which will save measurement results, and provide various forms of statistical information.Finally, this paper analyzes the test result under different simulation environment in the performance test platform. By comparing the test data in the different test conditions, this article verifies the changing situation of network bandwidth, lost package, delay and jitter and other parameters, that confirms the correct implementation of system testing and data statistical analysis.
