Cognitive radio (CR), seeks for the underutilized spectrum resource and accesses to the detected idle spectrum to perform their communication guaranteeing the quality of other users’ communication. The major contributions of the paper are as follows,1. This paper proposes a utility-sharing based joint resource allocation among primary network and secondary network. Based on the available studies, this system is modeled as a utility-sharing system where primary network operator and secondary network operator provide services to primary users and secondary users, respectively. In the bottom layer, the interaction between primary network operator and secondary network operator is modeled as a leader-follower game. Due to the non-convexity of the optimization problem, this paper proposes the monotonic optimization algorithm based efficient algorithm to solve the problem. In the top layer, the optimal scheme of utility sharing is modeled as a Nash bargaining game. As no explicit formulation of the utility to be shared, this paper proposes an efficient algorithm based on Brent’s method. With the sharing scheme and the joint resource allocation scheme, primary network operator and secondary network operator achieve a win-win situation.2. This paper considers joint cooperative sensing assignment and resource allocations in the cognitive radio system. Due to the uncertain factors in the environment, this paper considers the cooperative spectrum sensing. Meanwhile, the effects of power consumption in the sensing and reporting procedures are taken account into the resource allocation. Due to the coupling effects between the assignment of secondary users and resource allocations, a two-layer efficient algorithm is proposed to solve the binary non-linear problem. And amounts of mathematical simulations show the effects of extra power consumption on the assignment of secondary users.
