With the development of domestic and foreign scientific technology, more and more attentionhave been paid on stress wave NDT(Non-Destructive Testing) technology from both forestryindustry and research fields. In this paper, the wood nondestructive testing2-d imagesegmentation and3-d reconstruction methods were studied deeply. The main research results aregiven as follows:This paper compares several classic image segmentation algorithms and analyzes the Graphcuts algorithm’s feasibility and superiority, through the comparison of these methods in theapplication of wood. At the same time, an automatic evaluation method was proposed, whichbased on decaying wood degree tomographic images. Firstly, the wood tomographic image waspartitioned by Graph Cuts, and conversed to grayscale. Finally, the cumulative histogramtechnology was used to obtain the defect part area of the grayscale image. So, the automaticevaluation for the wood decaying degree has been implemented. Compared with the traditionalsegmentation method of wood tomography, the segmentation based on Graph Cuts obtained ahigher accuracy, and the intelligent level of analyzing and understanding for wood tomographyhas been improved in this study. In order to reduce the noise of image, we can use the image processing technology to dealwith the original image, which had been partitioned by Graph Cuts. By using edge detection, theboundary contour and the inner decay information of wood were extracted. Then,3D rendering ofwood inner decay was realized by using the interpolation algorithm, and the three-dimensionalstructure of wood inner decay was determined. The experimental results show that the simulationresult can better reflect the internal structure of wood with high sense of reality.
