American late night talk show, being classified as a form of soft news, is becoming an important source for news and political information for American audience. How this form of program presents China can resonate with a substantial audience. This study takes The Daily Show with Jon Stewart as an example, and tries to explore the image of China in American late night talk show. With the guidance of framing theory, this study examines the image of China in segments of the show in the period1999-2014by using content analysis and case study. The study found that the show presents a negative image of China in every topic it has covered, especially in topics involving health and environment, and politics. This presentation is achieved through certain frames and rhetoric devices, with the help of humor, exaggerations, and acting.
