With the development of information technology, the enterprise is raising higher requirements for the ability of the information system to provide service, and demanding the information system to guarantee the business continuity. Although the occurrence of a disaster is a small probability event, it will have a significant impact on the information system. The disaster backup construction of the information system has been the key of the information construction, despite all that, it has the characteristic of the high cost on the infrastructure investment, the system operation and maintenance, therefore, a project is urgent to be proposed to implement the new disaster backup technology plan verification and the evaluation on the disaster recovery ability of the system constructed with the new plan by the assessment prior to the system construction.Focused on those above-mentioned problems, an information system simulation method of disaster backup and recovery is researched and designed to solve the disaster backup research problem and the fault-tolerant capacity validation problem, and then the method correctness is verified by making the simulation test.The detailed works done in the paper are as follows:1. Aimed at solving the disaster backup research problem, a general modeling method, a fault detection and analysis algorithm and a system evaluation method are put forward. The system simulation model is constructed based on the three-layer network architecture model, and the disasters are simulated by the fault injection technology, the heartbeat detection technology and fault analysis technology are used to finish the fault detection and fault impact analysis, and then the cluster technology is used to simulate the fault-tolerant system tasks, and the indices including RTO/RPO are designed to evaluate the system’ability.2. Aimed at solving the fault-tolerant capacity validation problem, a fault injection algorithm based on simulation is proposed. Based on the above-mentioned system simulation model, the algorithm creates the fault library to collect all the possible fault types based on the system configuration information, furthermore, a quadruple format of the fault configuration is designed as the fault injection interface implementing the multiple fault injection.3. The disaster backup simulation test system is designed and implemented to test the raised fault injection function, system simulation function and system evaluation function. The simulation test results show that the method for information system disaster backup simulation can ensure the effectiveness of the injected faults, and simulate any system under different system requirements, and the analyze the rich simulation data providing strong data support for the disaster backup construction, the disaster recovery ability evaluation, the operation and maintenance of the disaster-tolerant system.
