Wireless sensor network is a self-organized network which consists of plenty of sensors distributed from space communicating in wireless. It can be applied to various fields in daily life and production by integration with specific sensors. In wireless sensor network architecture, MAC (medium access control) protocol is important to the efficient communication of network protocol. Researchers proposed different traditional sensor network MAC protocols from various aspects, and they are divided into competitionprotocols, fixed allocationprotocols and compositeprotocols. To ensure the reliability of the network, traditional MAC protocols often require high energy consumption, therefore this paper implemented low-power TSMP (Time Synchronized Mesh Protocol) on a lightweight operating system which is based on time synchronization mechanism. When it comes to realization of TSMP, because the Contiki multitasking operating system is suitable for sensor protocol simulation and has good portability, this paper chose Contiki system with its embedded network protocol stack as research platform. This paper introduced the structure and working principle of Contiki, and analyzed the research and implementation of each protocol stacklayer. And with the mechanism comparison of typical traditional MAC protocols and MAC protocols on Contiki system, the main function of TSMP protocolis carefully studiedand finished on Contiki operating system based on the time synchronization mechanism of TSMP protocol with design, implementation and simulation.
