The network scale changes from simple point-to-point network to complicated multi-layer network. The nodes of networks becomes lager and the network structure becomes complicated than before.With natural disasters happening such as earthquake, hurricane, tsunami, sandstorm, etc., the probability of failure in the optical network increases year by year. The demand for high-quality video and audio becoming more and more urgent, the number of business transmitted in the network increases sharply. If the optical fiber fails, immeasurable business interruption and serious losses will cause. It brings more challenges to the network, so the ability to cope with failure of network becomes a research focus.For the optical network survivability requirements under multiple fault, the paper focus on p-Cycle protection technology under multi-fault in the optical network, which based on the national973project " survivability of large capacity optical network under the multiple fault". The main content of this paper is a series research about p-Cycle protection structure in the optical network, in-depth study of the p-Cycle protection method against multi-link fault. Main work and contributions of the paper are the following three aspects:Firstly,did some study of the p-Cycle protection method, analysed the effects what the multi-fault influent on, explored the feasibility of p-Cycle against dual fault and obtained the multiple fault protection method based on p-Cycle.Secondly, made further analysis and study of the p-Cycle protection method for dual fault, set up ILP model for dual link fault based on Hamilton Cycle, proposed the dual failure survivability method based on p-Cycle and completed the simulation. The simulation results show that the proposed multi-fault protection method improve the success rate of protection by20%on average, and reduce the number of blocking service in the network.Thirdly, put forward the concept of resource planning and maximum resource sharing, and made combination of these two concepts and p-Cycle protection, proposed the maximum resource sharing protection algorithm based on p-Cycle, and completed the simulation. The simulation results show that the proposed algorithm can reduce the resource consumption, and decrease the network redundancy and the blocking probability.
