With the popularity of intelligent terminals and the rapid development of mobile Internet, the mobile positioning has inspired a new wave of research. Location-based services (LBS) ensure service quality with high preciseness of positioning and navigation. Therefore, positioning technology and system not only are the focus of research agencies, but also have a profound effect on people’s daily life. Most of the current outdoor positioning systems depend on Global Positioning System (GPS). GPS could reach high positioning accuracy in the open outdoors, but due to the attenuation of radio waves and multipath effects in built-up urban areas, the positioning accuracy reduces significantly. What’s worse, GPS signals are almostly unavailable in indoor environment, which also limits the application of GPS. As for the current indoor positioning systems, although there are many different methods, they are strongly dependent on the location information of signal points (e.g. WLAN AP and Bluetooth AP, etc.), which result in restrictive application scenarios. With the help of the enterprise project in cooperation with Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd., this paper develops more accurate, wider applied and more robust positioning technology and system to solve the current indoor and outdoor positioning system problems. This paper adopts fingerprint matching technology as the basis positioning method for the indoor and outdoor cellular network positioning system aided by WLAN signal. This technique does not rely on radio propagation models, so it isn’t restricted by particular scenes or multipath effects. What’s more, the technique has a high location accuracy and very fast computational speed. As for the indoor and outdoor cellular network positioning system aided by WLAN signal, this paper adopts some algorithms like data post-fusion, building contour extraction, indoor and outdoor division, locating AP reversely to locate users. The proposed cellular network positioning system is based on cellular network information. Even in dense urban areas we also could acquire sufficient positioning information because of the good network coverage of mobile communication networks. The proposed WLAN positioning system innovatively designs the reverse AP positioning technology, which resolves the problem that many indoor APs’locations are unknown. Finally, experiments are conducted to confirm the high accuracy and reliability of the positioning system that is designed in this paper.
