This paper studied the problem of multi-frame interpolation in the spacecraft docking senses. To solve the problem of the shortage of the frame rate, it needs to ensure the overall consistency the single frame image resolution and the image sequence. This paper studied these problems combines the characteristics of space environment,the paper mainly completed the works as flow:(1)It studied the image interpolation problem for the space motion image sequence, proposed the image interpolation algorithm based on edge-directed smoothness, it depart the image into the portion and the edge. Enlarge the image to the enquired times using the bilinear Interpolation, and then use the proposed algorithm based on edge-directed smoothness to smooth and strength the edge, and so complete the purpose of eliminating blur and enhancing the edge. The experiment result shows that the proposed algorithm gets the better results, not only ensure the smoothness but also ensure the sharpness of the edge.(2)It studied the frame interpolation based on image segmentation, through the segmentation of the image, detected the regions change with time and the regions not change with time, and then separate the motion target. Separate all the moving objects of each frame, there are a large number of zero-point or have the same motion points, with the background deduction method, motion images can well descript the moving position and region, using of the history motion images can exactly get the motion regions, and combine the history images can get the motion direct, and then get the direct and margin of the motion object, thereby get the motion estimation, and then interpolate for the image sequence.(3)It studied the motion estimation of the motion image sequence interpolation, proposed the motion estimation algorithm based on block matching, and complete deep study from three aspect, matching standard, searching strategy and searching area. Depart the image into overlapping blocks, increasing the corresponding points with motion estimation. When matching blocks, code the information of the pixel blocks to speed up the process of matching. Determine the times of alternating based on the intenseness degree of the motion and the motion estimation of the forward frame. Through the experiment verify the affection of the proposed algorithm.(4)Develop the tool of the space image sequence interpolation, include the image interpolation based on edge-direct smoothness, the image sequence interpolation based on segmentation, the image sequence interpolation based on overlapping block matching and the image quality assessing. Achieve the algorithms proposed by the paper, and verified the affection.
