With ultra-wideband (UWB) wireless technology being used from militarization to civilian and the rapid development of electronic technology, ultra-wideband technology has become the most competitive technique because of the advantage of high-performance, low-power and low-cost. UWB system needs to complete radiation and accept a very narrow time-domain pulse signal within a short time effectively, so high requirements on the performance of the antenna are needed. From the perspective of the development of the ultra-wideband antenna, miniaturization and flat has become main stream in the design of ultra-wideband antenna technology.In this paper, a miniaturized ultra-wideband antenna and an ultra-wideband antenna with multi-band notched are designed. The content mainly consists of two parts:The first part describes the basic ultra-wideband technology and several important parameters to measure the performance of the antenna, as well as the ultra-wideband miniaturization technology and band broadening methods. Each of the methods is carried out more detailed simulation which provides the next ultra-wideband antenna design work with a theoretical support. That is an important research aspect of this project.The second part designs an ultra-wideband planar antenna and an ultra-wideband microstrip antenna with the band-notched function to meet the multiple communication systems coexist. The first antenna consists of DGS and the patch with edge structural adjustment to achieve2.9GHz to17GHz impedance bandwidth. The second antenna achieves notch function by radiating patch and microstrip line slotted. At the same time the antenna get more compact with the slot. After the optimization of antenna size, the antenna only have a size of12mm x18mm. The antenna has a dual-band notched performance and achieve a3GHz to13GHz impedance bandwidth and the radiation pattern within each band point is very stable.
