Since the Third Plenary Session of the Sixteenth CPC Central Committee, Chinese government has carried out a series of a series of information infrastructure and information services, including all types of Every Village Projects, Farmers’ Book House, Rural Information Site, etc. Through these projects, the Government hopes to improve rural information environment, and provide the opportunity of universal information access to rural residents. Whether the farmers will benefit from these is not optimistic. Previous studies show, Chinese farmers have a huge difference in social statues, political resources, values, education, behavior, etc. And some studies show that factors, such as socio-economic status, personal intellectual, will affect a person’s information status. There is a reason to believe that modern Chinese farmers will be divided in information status. This study investigates the status of farmers’information divide and the factors related.Information World of Individual(IWOI) is the conceptual framework and the measurement tool applied in the study. IWOI is an area in which people as an information subject, do lots of information activities, such as:information utilization, information production, information dissemination, etc. Measuring farmer’s IWOI can clearly understand his information status. In the study, IWOI Scall is used as a measurement tool. Subsidized by the National Natural Science Fund (hosted by Profess Liangzhi Yu, Grant Number:71273141), this study surveyed many villages in Tianjin, Jiangxi, Hebei, Fujian, Gansu, Henan, Shanxi, and received a total of1,837valid questionnaires. Linear regression is used to analyze the connection between factors and farmer’s Information world of Individual. The results are presented as follows:1Gender and ethnic has no effect on the farmer’s IWOI2Age has a negative connection with farmer’s IWOI. The older farmer’s IWOI is narrower.3Comparing with planting and breeding, different occupation has different positive impact on farmer’s IWOI. Local merchants and other occupation (teachers, doctors, retired cadres, etc.) farmers have the most wide IWOI. Planting and breeding farmers have the narrowest IWOI.4Family income has a positive effect on farmers’IWOI. The higher the household income, the wider IWOI the farmer has.5Education has a positive effect on farmers’IWOI. The higher education a farmer has, the wider IWOI he has.2figures,20tables,78references.
