In the background of the big data era, a surge of data traffic and strong demand for the speedup in broadband internet service managed a work to putforward a higher request to high-capacity communications. Optical communication is moving in the direction of high-capacity, high-speed, scalability. With the rapid development of clound development, high-definition video and the Internet of things technology, optical transport network is developing from the former1Gbits/s,10Gbits/s technology to the widely used40Gbits/s and100Gbits/s technology. And it took just a few years to develop the technology from10Gbits/s to100Gbits/s. The standard codec, QPSK, which is the key factor in driving the rapid development of100G optical transport network. Among them, the polarization splitter, polarization converter is the key components of the coherent receiver.We presents two kinds of silicon based polarization splitter-rotator and a kind of switchable polarizer in this article, which is mainly used in coherent reception system and the polarization division multiplexing system in optical communication. The two polarization splitter-rotator are:(1) PSR based on ridge waveguides coupling. The total length of the device is about24μm and the PCE is up to98%;(2) PSR based on L and straight waveguide coupling. The coupling area length is about35.5μm and the extinction ratio is higher than12dB in the bandwidth range of1500nm to1600nm. Both of them can use the same substrate and cladding materials, which are diffetent from the devices before. According to the mode polarization multiplexing system proposed in recent years, we put forward a kind of polarization router, which can freely switch the polarization states of the outputs by adjusting the external signal. According to the simulation analysis, we can obtain the PEC is higher than15dB in the bandwidth range of1500nm to1600nm. The insertion losses of TEO/TMO modes are0.18dB/0.19dB and0.22dB/0.16dB at the on and off states, respectively.
