With the rapid development of the wireless communication technology, corresponding energyconsumption is also growing at an alarming rate. Moreover, the energy consumption of the wirelessnetwork is growing much faster than the technology on the whole. With the full deployment of3Gnetwork, the operators will pay more cost for the energy consumption in the future. As thedevelopment goal of next-generation wireless communication technology, how to reduce energyconsumption in LTE system has become a research hotspot in communication industry.LTE multicast service is a transmission mode of point to multipoint, which has quite superiorperformance in the utilization rate of bandwidth resources, it can greatly improve the utilizationrate of network resources. Combining the study of LTE energy-saving and the research on LTEmulticast service will have an important significance in improving the utilization rate of networkresources, including energy resource, spectrum resource and air interface resource. Therefore, this paper study the energy-saving scheduling scheme for LTE multicast service. After studying several traditional energy-saving schemes and analyzing the process of LTEmulticast services, two energy-saving scheduling schemes for LTE multicast services areproposed in this paper, which called AM-EIPF scheme and GM-EIPF scheme respectively. The twoschemes can effectively reduce the energy consumption and improve the utilization rate of thetransmit power. In order to verify the feasibility of the two proposed schemes, the two schemes are simulatedon the MATLAB simulation platform. The simulation results showed that, compared with thetraditional multicast scheduling scheme, AM-EIPF and GM-EIPF schemes can reduce the energyconsumption of system greatly without reducing its throughput. It can be proven that the proposedschemes are effective in improving the power efficiency.
