Wireless sensor network is a network formed by the large-scale deployment of sensor nodes. It’simportant that studied efficient MAC protocol coordinate local scope channel allocation of thesensor nodes, because the sensor node communication bandwidth is limited. Meanwhile, theefficiency of data transmission goes to bad due to reduce energy consumption of wireless sensornetwork, so how to reduce the network delay is also need to study the focus problem.MAC protocol of wireless sensor network decreasing time delay is classified into two categories:point-to-point delay and end-to-end delay. In order to solve the low efficiency of decreasingpoint-to-point delay in the SMAC-AL protocol, this thesis proposes the advanced adaptive listeningmechanism, it makes that data transfer is no longer restricted by two hops in a single cycle. In orderto solve the low efficiency of decreasing energy consumption, this thesis proposes a new cyclemechanism. The mechanism reduce length of listening phase and join a competition phase beforelistening phase. The node which has data to send is awakened in the phase of competition, othernodes keep sleep phase to increase energy consumption. In the thesis, the performance of the designing protocol is assessed and compared withSMAC-AL protocol and IEEE802.11protocol in OPNET simulation platform by using differenttopologies. The simulation result shows that, for needing more jump forward large networks, theimproved protocol is significantly better than SMAC-AL protocol in the average delay of network, but the improved protocol advantage is not obvious to SMAC-AL protocol in the average energyconsumption of network; for small sensor network, the improved protocol compared withSMAC-AL protocol in the average energy consumption is lower. Compared with other protocol,IEEE802.11protocol had a higher average energy consumption and low average delay.
