With the explosive growth in data traffic, wireless and mobile data transmission speedhas far more than the cellular system can provide. Wireless local area network as a rapidemergency new technology, Its widely used in the global due to its higher rate, flexibilityand mobility, easy to install and to plan and adjust network,"roaming" between nodes andmany other characteristics that cable network can’t provide. However, WLAN securityflaws have been one of the main reasons that hinder its market’s rapid growth because ofits openness; How to well integrated WLAN into existing mobile networks is veryimportant practical value and realistic significance for operators when wlan is large—scalecommercial deployment.Integrated Authentication and Accounting are the basics of integrated WLAN andmobile networks,of which (U)SIM card would actually to be the bridge.Proposed andreleased by3GPP and IETF, EAP-SIM/AKA protocol not only provides a authenticationmethod for WLAN, but also provide a high rate wireless access means for cellular system. And will bring convenience to the WLAN’s large-scale deployment of operators. With the mobile terminal’s of intelligence, It’s an inevitable trend of mobile phoneaccess WLAN. EAP-SIM/AKA as an EAP authentication method which use (U)SIM cardinformation to authenticate and completely automatically by the terminal without anymanual operation. EAP-SIM/AKA authentication become indispensable for (U) SIMterminal. It’s necessary for wireless access controller to support of EAP-SIM/AKAauthentication which as a user controller、manager and authenticator in centralized WLANsystem. So need to add the appropriate software modules to support new accessauthentication technology like EAP-SIM/AKA.The research of this paper is add a EAP authentication module to a wireless accesscontroller device to support EAP-SIM/AKA authentication in the centralized WLAN.
