Carrier Aggregation technology aggregates the relatively narrow-band to expand the system bandwidth, and thus the data rate is improved. Meanwhile, Carrier Aggregation technology has brought many new issues about the radio resource management in the LTE-Advanced systems. Since the system provides more than one carrier, it will result in the problem of load unbalancing among carriers. Furthermore, in the heterogeneous network for Carrier Aggregation, how to set the theory model for the scenario and to efficiently schedule resource is a big challenge for LTE-Advanced system as the complicated association of multi-carrier, macro cell and small cell shall be considered. Therefore, the two problems about radio resource management for carrier aggregation will be researched in this paper.First of all, this paper presents a user grouping based load balancing scheme for carrier scheduling, and the user group includes cell-centre user, cell-edge user and the user which is not scheduled successfully in the first time. The different SINR threshold is set for different user group to select the candidate serving carrier. Furthermore, both the load and channel quality conditions of carrier are taken into account for the final serving carrier selection.Secondly, this paper applying stochastic geometry to research the Carrier Aggregation technology. By setting the theory model for the heterogeneous network of Carrier Aggregation, the resource allocation scheme is studied and an optimized resource allocation scheme is proposed in this paper. The proposed scheme in this paper provides user for the minimum threshold of user rate to ensure that the cell-edge user does not has too low data rate and equally allocation resource when the number of user is small to improve the resource efficiency.Through the analysis of the simulation results, it shows that the proposed load balancing scheme not only properly balances the load among carriers but also achieves high throughput. And the average cell-edge user throughput is higher than the traditional load balancing schemes. Moreover, the proposed resource allocation scheme improves the user data rate. These two schemes are helpful to improve the data rate for LTE-Advanced system in Carrier Aggregation scenario.
