With the rapid development of the network, the network topology and new services emerge quickly. In order to ensuring operation of the network normally and providing comprehensive and reliable network management, it is necessary to study a practicable network monitoring method. As a common form of network, there are some characteristics of large-scale network, such as multi-dimensional, multi-level, complex structure. It is important to manage the network effectively and provide accurate data for large-scale networks. Virtualization monitoring methods monitor the network dynamically, which provide a variety of measurement modes based on properties of the network topology and nodes information.Because of the complex structure of large-scale network, it needs to study targeted monitoring methods. This article describes the cloud monitoring systems, including cloud monitoring platform and probes deployed into the network. For the selection of monitoring points, the deployment of probe must be weighed against the cost and coverage. In order to minimize the number of monitoring probes, this paper uses a network. monitoring probe deployment method based on ant colony algorithm which covers the network link as widely as possible.If the measuring point is not set to monitor the deployment of the probe, the probe system for automated deployment process.If the monitoring nodes are not deployed in the measuring set, the system will run the deployment process automatically.According to the state of network and nodes, the method use the virtualization machine image mode or software package deployment mode. There are three network monitoring methods to meet the needs of different users which are the specified link mode, automatic monitoring mode, user customization mode.The system monitors the resource status of node, adjusts the probes dynamically and adjust the monitoring node flexibly. The system deploys on the global large-scale network Planetlab and issues a large number of long missions to collect measurement data, which verifies the stability of the system for network monitoring and the accuracy of the results.In the introduction of virtualization monitoring methods, it introduces the background and significance of this paper while it describes the proposed background of the virtualization monitoring methods. Then the relevant technical background is described including network development status and performance measurement indicators. By the demand analysis for virtualization monitoring methods, it completes the overall design of the system and the detailed design of the various sub-functions. Then it describes the implementation process of selection method of monitoring nodes, automatic deployment, adjust the monitoring points flexibly. Finally, the experimental test of system is on the PlanetLab, and the measurement results are analyzed.The test data demonstrate the effectiveness and stability of virtualization monitoring methods.
