With the rapid development of the Internet, web applications have become the principal means for individuals and corporations to retrieve and display information. As web applications evolve, IP-centric structure of TCP/IP network encounters a bottleneck during the resolution of the problems with resource replication, data transfer rates, network scalability, and network security. Content-centric network provides a viable option in the future to solve the problems of the underlying network. Since content-centric network can balance between Transmission and content distribution, focusing on content and service, it is the main trends of in the advancement of the network of the future. However, as protocol of overlaying network protocol is changed, the traditional web application delivery mechanism, which is based on point to point communication of TCP/IP architecture, as long with related web service infrastructure-web browser and web server, is no longer adapted to the changed network environment. How web service infrastructure and web applications, especially those based on B/S structure, get rid of point-to-point communication models and provide more efficient web services in content-centric network is a very valuable research topic. This paper is intended to address issues of web services in the future Internet with existing technologies, provides a workable mechanism for application delivery in the reference of traditional web framework and perform initial verification and implementation for such a mechanism. The paper first outlines related theory and technology for building web applications on content-centric network and then provides delivery mechanism and basic architecture for content-centric web service. After work in an in-depth study on the basic architecture, engineering processes and existing issues of current browsers, the paper designs and implements a browser that support data delivery and resource rendering for the content-centric web applications in the basis of open source browser engine WebKit. Then we verify the availability of content-centric browser with the campus network as an experimental environment. Finally, we provide an application example using content-centric browser and server to show the development and workflow of application based on new delivery mechanism and basic architecture.
