With the development of IP traffic and mobile internet, the transport network topology evolves from point-to-point or ring network to complicated mesh network. The transporting function and service function in network edge node tends to be integrated to flattened networkThe demand of network operators for network planning and optimization is increasing. On the one hand, the traditional routing and resource assignment cannot meet the requirement for network CAPEX and QoS. On the other hand, traditional layered routing and resource assignment strategy cannot give a optimal result in flattened network. In terms of network survivability, layered survivability strategy results in function conflict..To solve the problem discussed above, this study focus on the network planning in IP over OTN flattened network. This study establishes a mathematic model for integrated traffic planning in IP over OTN network and proposes an ACO based integrated RWA algorithm. We take the cost of network, traffic delay into consideration trying to reach the balance of CAPEX and quality of service (QoS). The algorithm supports traffic grooming on IP layer and sub-wavelength switching on OTN layer, which is the important characteristic of OTN, attempting to reduce bandwidth fragment. Through "clipping of virtual topology", the characteristic of MLR is considered into the algorithm that would reduce the CAPEX and power consumption as mentioned before. Applying ant colony heuristic algorithm to the static case (static RWA) relax the constraint of computational amount and iterative virtual topology reconstruction is considered. The simulation results show that, in different network environments and setting, the algorithm has better performance than traditional RWA algorithm.
