Compared to2D video,3D stereoscopic video can provide a realistic visual experience. In recent years,3D movie has developed rapidly. In2012, there were363D movies on show in China mainland. Even if the number was only11%of the annual films,3D movie box office was accounted for40%of the total box office. With the development of network communication technology and audio and video technology, stereoscopic video applications on the network has become a hot topic nowadays research.This paper designed and developed stereo video live and video-on-demand system, can provide stereo video-on-demand and live services on IP networks. The system includes the following components: a3D video player, a Sony Blu-ray3D-Decode-Transcoder, stereo video transmission module of real-time acquisition and push,3D-Deployment-Management.First of all, this paper studies the stereo video representation, three-dimensional video presentation. In this paper, the three-dimensional video is given priority to with double video track forms of stereo video, stereo video is complementary in the form of single video track. Dual stereo video track encodes left and right eyes videos respectively, using two dependent tracks to storage and transport, aimed at keeping the maximum truth of the stereo video data. In order to playback the stereo video of dual stereo video in this system, this paper designed and developed a3D video player. The stereo video player can play double track video of stereo video files and network flows, and play in the form of stereo display of side-by-side. It also can be switched to the traditional 2D display.What is more, in order to solve the stereo video source for VOD in the system, this paper implemented a Sony Blu-ray3D-Decode-Transcoder, the software decode of Blu-ray discs, and transcode to produce2D or red-blue, polarization, side-by-side, and double-track-video formats for stereo video source. At the same time, in order to solve the stereo video source for live channel, this paper design and write the stereo video transmission module of real-time acquisition and push.In addition, the use of VLC Server with3D-Deployment-Management, software implemented in this paper, contribute to the server-side of the systems. The3D-Deployment-Management targeted to the needs of system to achieve a visual interface and intuitive operation, reducing the probability of deployment configuration error and enhanced the robustness of the system.And follows were a series of tests. Operating system suitability test and basic function test for stereoscopic video player. Operating system suitability test and transcode results test for3D-Decode-Transcode software. Real-time test for capture and push module. Finally, build the stereo video live and on-demand system, that according to the user subjective test, it provides a well stereo video live and on-demand viewing.
