Research Of Home Gateway Based On Embedded Linux System Of MIPS

With the digital home concept put forward, the rapid development of digital technology, home networking services and applications deepening, many intelligent terminals into the general digital home networks step by step, so that a family of converged network, the home gateway trends and focus of the study.The hardware and software architecture of the home gateway was studied which used Linux operating system as development environment and under microprocessor without interlocked piped stages32-bit embedded micro control unit. These applications have been practiced as module. The functions of the home gateway have been tested. By this framework has been practiced, the appropriate drivers and the applications have been re-developed, combined with wireless communication technology to achieve the home gateway. The home gateway had uplink interfaces supported asymmetric digital subscriber line, passive optical network, Ethernet over Coax and other access methods, also provided downstream interfaces such as Voice over Internet Protocol, Internet Protocol Television, personal computer, Universal Serial BUS, Universal Asynchronous Receiver/Transmitter and Wireless Fidelity wireless signal. The home gateway could exchange information, configure, update and remote control flexibly via world wide web and Command Line Interface means. The home gateway has been simulated the actual operation of the services configuration, by using personal computer, LAN chat tool, the Wireshark network packet analysis software and other common tools. In the course of my research, the voice services, switching function and management interface function have been tested. The tested results have shown that the home gateway meet these functions.In this paper developed the home gateway with32bits processors, of each module is independent of each other. According to the different application requirements flexibility in cutting trade-offs, in order to change the application in the hardware structure remains the same conditions to meet different needs. The home gateway is more suitable for high broadband transmission, all-round integration, multi-service integrated home network and business application development needs.
