With the rapid development of network technology, image processing technology, thehardware technology, video monitoring system continuously update, from the firstgeneration analog video monitoring system to the second generation digital videomonitoring system, and the third generation intelligent video surveillance system, theperformance of system not only is more improving, but also more meet the needs of themarket, it is being used widely in our daily life. From the bank to the community, the videosurveillance system is playing an increasingly important role in various fields. Theproblems will affect the user’s experience. Therefore, wireless video monitoring system andit’s clear video image have become the inevitable trend of development.The third generation of video monitoring system has been preliminarily achievedwireless nature of system, clear nature of the image, the purpose of this paper is to designand implement a wireless video monitoring system, the improved Pal King algorithm andthe JPEG video codec technology are used by image processing to ensure compressed datawithout loss of image quality; image transmission use WLAN, transmission protocol useRTP, to ensure that the image data transmission flexibility and real-time.This paper firstly reviews the development of video monitoring at home and abroadand sum up video monitoring of the advantages and disadvantages, then according to thedevelopment trend and video surveillance, the aim of this system is proposed and realized.According to the technology, cost requirements and so on, a specific scheme of the systemis designed, including the selection of software and hardware platform and technicalsupport. According to the Tiny6410development board, the Linux kernel is cut in order tomeet the system requirements. Then it achieves the video image acquisition, compression,processing function in the development board, procedure is that USB camera capture videoimage, the dynamic video image data compression is achieved by JPEG algorithm and dataare transmitted to a remote client through wireless network, the client decode the receiveddata and implement video. This paper evaluates the performance of the system, sums upadvantages and disadvantages of this system and the direction of future improvement.
