With advances in technology, the countries of the world turns to high-tech militaryequipment, and electronic warfare highlights its enormous potential. For its high mobility,low cost, small size and other excellent characteristics, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) arehighly valued in the current electronic warfare. As UAV data link bridges the groundcontrol station and UAV, its robustness directly produces a critical effect on theperformance of the UAV combat system. fast frequency hopping technology is a highanti-jamming and anti-intercept secret communication method, so it has been widelyadopted in the UAV data link communications systems. In the frequency hoppingcommunication system of the tactical data links, synchronization technology is a keytechnology to ensure the system operating properly. Due to very little information conveyedin single hop, fast frequency hopping system cannot be synchronize according to theconventional slow frequency hopping synchronization technology. Therefore, it is of greatimportance to research the acquisition and tracking technology of synchronization in fastfrequency hopping systems.Relying on development of UAV airborne communication equipment, this paperresearched and analyzed synchronization technology of fast frequency hopping. The mainwork is as follows.Firstly, this paper proposed a new acquisition method single-channel matchedfiltering method by analyzing and studying the principle and performance of traditionalserial and parallel acquisition method. Theoretical analysis and simulation evidenced theperformance of the new algorithm. Its possibilities of acquisition and false alarm is thesame as the classical algorithms. The acquisition time of the new method approximates theparallel algorithm while it reduces the complexity of the structure significantly.Secondly, the paper analyzes several tracking method suitable for frequency hoppingcommunication system. A suppressed-jitter early-late gate algorithm proposed in this papercompares tracking speed, jitter and false alarm rate with difference estimation trackingalgorithm, maximum likelihood tracking algorithm and sequential shift tracking algorithm.Simulation shows the new algorithm has the same performance of fast positioning delay asdifference estimation algorithm, but also reduces the jitter in the tracking process.
