Due to the advantage of self-organization, multi-hop and invulnerability, Ad Hocnetwork can be set up quickly and flexibly without any fixed infrastructure support, so thatit plays a very important role in military missions, emergency relief and so on.Media Access Control (MAC) protocol, which achieves data transmission, errorcontrol, wireless channel access and other functions, is an important part of the Ad Hocnetwork protocol stack. With the growing application diversification in Ad Hoc networks,it is particularly important to support prioritization of traffic. This requires MAC protocolsto provide multi-priority service. The paper mainly studies the design, research and realization of the multi-priorityMAC protocol in Ad Hoc network. Firstly, the paper introduces the characteristics of AdHoc network, application scenarios, the typical protocol stack and some researches ofMAC protocols. Secondly, based on the comprehensive analysis for the MAC layer of ahigh-speed broadband Ad Hoc network, the paper proposes the overall design of the MACprotocol, including data transmission module, multi-priority access module, routing andforwarding module, GPS module, data log module and interface module. Then, the keymulti-priority access algorithm and the theoretical analysis for the collision of packets inthe channel are discussed, followed by the simulation design with OPNET Modeler andsimulation results of success rate and delay. Finally, the MAC protocol is realized on aVxWorks-based ARM embedded platform with C programming language. Black box testresults and application test results of actual devices show that the MAC protocol can meetthe requirement of the system.
